Through A Scanner Darkly
COLLAGE, SCANNER, ZINE, SELF PORTRAIT
For this project I created a psychological self portrait through a series of text, photographs, and collages. The first part involves a written text that describes my feelings, inner emotions, and personal goals/dreams without describing my physical appearance. The second part is a photographic portrait that utilizes images as visual metaphors to represent me. The third part is a "magical" familiar to represent myself, through a series of manipulated and experimental scans of images found in books in the library.
SELF PORTAITS
INTRODUCTION

The familiar shows my personality with symbols of cranes and swans, ornamental patterns and motifs, and shades of purple which all represent my simple yet sophisticated, calm, and timid personality. This self portrait has a photo of me in the centre wearing a headpiece I created because it represents beauty, grace, and dignity. In the background I have collaged different parts of the scans that are seen in the familiar as well.
